Strawberry Matcha Latte

Strawberry Matcha Latte

A vibrant and creamy Strawberry Matcha Latte blending fresh strawberries with earthy matcha green tea, creating a refreshing and energizing beverage perfect served hot or iced, customizable to your dietary preferences and flavor twists.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Ingredients

Scale

Strawberry Puree

  • 1 cup fresh ripe strawberries, washed and hulled

Matcha

  • 12 teaspoons high-quality matcha powder (ceremonial or culinary grade)
  • 2 tablespoons hot water (about 175°F / 80°C)

Milk

  • 1 cup milk of your choice (dairy or plant-based such as almond, oat, or coconut milk)

Sweetener (optional)

  • 12 teaspoons honey, agave syrup, or maple syrup

Flavoring

  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the strawberry puree: Wash and hull fresh strawberries, then blend them until smooth. For a silky texture without seeds or pulp, strain the puree through a fine mesh sieve.
  2. Whisk the matcha: Sift 1–2 teaspoons of matcha powder into a bowl and add about 2 tablespoons of hot water (around 175°F / 80°C). Whisk vigorously in a zigzag motion using a bamboo whisk until the matcha is frothy and lump-free.
  3. Heat and froth the milk: Warm your chosen milk gently on the stove or with a milk frother until hot but not boiling, then froth until creamy and light.
  4. Combine all components: Pour the strawberry puree into your serving mug, add the frothed milk, then gently pour the prepared matcha on top or swirl it throughout to create beautiful pink and green layers.
  5. Sweeten and flavor (optional): Add a drizzle of honey, agave, or maple syrup along with a splash of vanilla extract to enhance natural flavors. Stir gently and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
  • Water temperature around 175°F (80°C) prevents bitterness in matcha.
  • For a frothy matcha texture, use a bamboo whisk (chasen) if possible.
  • Adjust sweetness to your preference as matcha can be naturally bitter.
  • Warm and froth the milk thoroughly for a creamy, velvety latte.
