Main Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breast, sliced into thin strips
- 2 tsp Southwestern seasoning (blend of cumin, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
- 4 flour tortillas
Vegetables & Toppings
- 1 cup bell peppers, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup fresh lettuce leaves, rinsed and dried
- 1 avocado, sliced or 1/2 cup guacamole
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or pepper jack)
- 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- Extra lime wedges for serving
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken: Slice the chicken breast into thin strips. In a bowl, toss the chicken with Southwestern seasoning, olive oil, and lime juice. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes to absorb the flavors deeply.
- Cook the Chicken: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken strips and cook for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and cooked through with a savory crust.
- Prepare Fresh Veggies: Meanwhile, thinly slice bell peppers and red onion. Rinse and dry lettuce leaves to keep everything crisp and fresh.
- Warm the Tortillas: Warm flour tortillas briefly in a dry pan or microwave until pliable for easier rolling without tearing.
- Assemble Your Wrap: Spread sour cream or Greek yogurt over each tortilla. Layer with cooked chicken, bell peppers, onion, lettuce, avocado slices, and shredded cheese. Finish with a squeeze of fresh lime juice.
- Roll and Serve: Roll the tortillas tightly around the fillings, folding in the ends. Slice diagonally and serve fresh and warm.
Notes
- Marinate chicken for up to 2 hours for deeper flavor.
- Keep fillings balanced to avoid spills when rolling.
- Use a hot skillet for a nice sear and caramelization on the chicken.
- Adding lime juice at the end brightens all flavors.
- Warm tortillas before assembling for better texture and easier rolling.
