Ingredients
Scale
Meat & Protein
- 1 lb ground beef
- 6 bacon strips, cooked and diced
Cheeses
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Produce & Aromatics
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
Pantry & Others
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 3 cups tomato sauce
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Prepare the Meat Mixture: Brown 1 lb of ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Add finely chopped onion and minced garlic; cook until soft and fragrant. Stir in diced cooked bacon and season generously with salt and pepper. Let the mixture simmer gently while you prepare the sauce.
- Make the Tomato Sauce: In a separate pot, combine 3 cups of tomato sauce with extra minced garlic and a pinch of red pepper flakes if desired. Simmer gently until flavors meld and the sauce thickens slightly to maintain moist but not watery lasagna layers.
- Cook the Lasagna Noodles: Boil 12 lasagna noodles until just al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water to prevent sticking. Lay them flat on a clean surface or parchment paper while assembling.
- Assemble Your Lasagna: In a baking dish, start with a thin layer of tomato sauce to prevent sticking. Layer in this order: noodles, meat and bacon mixture, tomato sauce, shredded cheddar cheese, and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a generous topping of Parmesan and cheddar cheese.
- Bake to Perfection: Cover the dish with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown on top. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving to allow flavors to seal in.
Notes
- Use quality thick-cut bacon for the best texture and smokiness.
- Do not overcook noodles; slightly undercooked noodles absorb sauce better and hold up during baking.
- Layer evenly for balanced flavor and texture in every bite.
- Allow lasagna to rest before serving for easier slicing and better flavor melding.
- Customize cheese blends by mixing Parmesan with cheddar for complexity and melt quality.
