Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 cup rolled oats
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- ½ cup sweetened condensed milk
- 3 tablespoons softened butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Coating
- ½ cup desiccated coconut
Optional Add-ins
- ¼ cup finely chopped almonds or pistachios
- Pinch of cinnamon or cardamom
- ¼ cup finely chopped dried dates or apricots
- Mini chocolate chips or melted chocolate for drizzling
Instructions
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the rolled oats and cocoa powder evenly, ensuring the cocoa coats the oats well for a rich chocolate taste.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Pour in the sweetened condensed milk, softened butter, and vanilla extract. Stir thoroughly until the mixture forms a sticky, cohesive dough.
- Shape the Balls: Use your hands to scoop out small amounts of the mixture and roll them into bite-sized balls, making sure they’re well compacted to hold together.
- Coat with Desiccated Coconut: Roll each chocolate ball in desiccated coconut, pressing gently so the coconut adheres, adding texture and a fresh finish.
- Chill and Set: Place the coated balls on a tray lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up before serving.
Notes
- Chill your hands or wet them lightly before rolling to prevent sticking.
- Use good-quality cocoa powder for better flavor.
- Keep chocolate balls uniform in size for even chilling and presentation.
- Taste the mixture before shaping; add honey or maple syrup if you prefer a sweeter treat.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge to maintain freshness.
