Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
- 2 large eggs
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Chocolate Add-ins
- 1/2 cup hot fudge sauce (plus extra for drizzling)
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chunks (optional)
Optional Variations
- 1/3 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (for Nutty Delight)
- Dollops of peanut butter (for Peanut Butter Swirl)
- Pinch of cayenne or cinnamon (for Spicy Chocolate)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a standard loaf pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make removal easier.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined and evenly distributed.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with vegetable oil and vanilla extract until smooth and slightly frothy. This mixture will add moisture and richness to your bread.
- Combine Wet and Dry: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep your bread tender and soft.
- Add the Hot Fudge: Carefully swirl in the hot fudge sauce into the batter, saving some for drizzling on top if you like. If desired, fold in chocolate chips for extra gooey pockets.
- Bake to Perfection: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs. This ensures the bread is moist but fully baked.
- Cool and Serve: Let the bread cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. This way, it will slice cleanly and hold its fudgy texture.
Notes
- Use high-quality cocoa powder for deeper flavor and richer color.
- Don’t overmix the batter to keep the bread moist and tender.
- Swirl the fudge gently to create beautiful fudge ribbons.
- Check doneness starting at 45 minutes to avoid overbaking.
- Warm leftover fudge sauce and drizzle it over slices for extra indulgence.
