Main Ingredients
- 4 large flour tortillas
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 packet taco seasoning mix
- 4 tostada shells
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 cup chopped lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 cup refried beans
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil or cooking spray
Instructions
- Prepare the Meat Filling: Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef or turkey until browned and crumbly. Drain excess grease. Stir in taco seasoning mix and a little water. Let simmer for 5 minutes to blend the flavors.
- Warm and Prep Other Fillings: Warm refried beans in a microwave-safe bowl. Finely chop lettuce and tomatoes. Have shredded cheese and sour cream ready for assembly.
- Assemble the Crunch Wrap: Place a large flour tortilla flat. Spread a spoonful of refried beans in the center, add a scoop of seasoned meat, then a tostada shell on top for crunch. Layer shredded cheese, sour cream, lettuce, and tomatoes. Avoid overfilling for easier folding.
- Fold the Tortilla: Fold the edges of the tortilla towards the center, pleating to form a compact circular package that encloses all fillings. Seal edges well to keep contents inside while cooking.
- Cook the Crunch Wrap: Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly grease with oil or cooking spray. Place the folded wrap seam-side down. Cook 2-3 minutes per side until tortilla is golden and crispy and cheese is melted.
Notes
- Use large tortillas to fold easily without tearing or overstuffing.
- Pat dry the cooked meat to remove excess fat to prevent soggy wraps.
- Briefly toast the tostada shell to enhance crunch and avoid sogginess.
- Don’t overload fillings to keep assembly neat and folding secure.
- Cook on medium heat for a crispy outside without burning before cheese melts.
