Scale
Coffee and Chocolate Base
- 1–2 shots of freshly brewed espresso or strong coffee
- 1–2 tablespoons chocolate syrup or 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- 1–2 teaspoons sugar or sweetener (optional, adjust to taste)
Milk and Toppings
- 1 cup whole milk (or any milk alternative like almond, soy, or oat milk)
- Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
- Cocoa powder or chocolate shavings (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Step 1: Brew Your Espresso Prepare one or two shots of espresso using an espresso machine, stovetop moka pot, or any strong coffee maker to get a fresh and hot coffee base.
- Step 2: Heat and Froth the Milk Warm milk gently on the stove or microwave until steaming but not boiling. Froth the milk using a frother, whisk vigorously, or shake in a jar until foamy.
- Step 3: Mix Chocolate and Sweetener In your mug, stir chocolate syrup or cocoa powder with a small amount of hot water or milk until completely dissolved. Add sugar or sweetener if desired and mix well.
- Step 4: Combine Espresso and Chocolate Mixture Pour the hot espresso shots into the mug with the chocolate mixture and stir until smooth and fully blended.
- Step 5: Add Milk and Froth Slowly pour the steamed milk into the espresso-chocolate blend, holding back the froth with a spoon. Spoon the froth on top to finish.
- Step 6: Top with Whipped Cream Optionally, add a swirl of whipped cream on top, then dust with cocoa powder or chocolate shavings for an indulgent finish.
Notes
- Use freshly brewed espresso and high-quality chocolate for best flavor.
- Keep milk temperature between 140°F to 160°F to avoid scalding.
- Froth milk properly to create a creamy texture resembling café quality.
- Adjust sweetness gradually to suit your taste without overpowering the coffee or chocolate.
- Experiment with different types of chocolate like dark, milk, or white for unique flavors.
- If dairy-free, substitute milk with almond, soy, or oat milk and ensure chocolate is vegan-friendly.
